NFL 2022-23 Season Strength of Schedule for All 32 Teams

The NFC East will play the NFC North and AFC South in 2022, according to the NFL’s scheduling rules. The New York Giants will also play nine home games in 2022, including a matchup with the Baltimore Ravens of the AFC North, as NFC clubs will host the 17th game that was added in 2021. However, the 2022 calendar does provide us with some hints that we likely previously knew. The AFC West and NFC West are loaded when looking at the strength of schedule for all NFL clubs in 2022. The teams in those categories will encounter each other in 2022, which will make for some really difficult periods for them.

The Giants have the fourth-easiest strength of schedule based on the cumulative winning percentages from the 2021 season. Their division competitors had only three “easier” schedules. The Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders have the league’s easiest schedule, while the Philadelphia Eagles have the third-easiest. While attempting to defend their Super Bowl crown, the Los Angeles Rams have the “toughest” schedule.

Since 1990 (32 straight seasons), at least four clubs that missed the postseason the previous year have made it to the playoffs each year. After failing to make the playoffs in 18 of the previous 19 seasons, at least two clubs have won their division the following year (Bengals and Cowboys in 2021). In at least one of the previous 19 seasons, a club went “worst-to-first,” winning its division after placing last or tied for last.

Starting off, we have divisions that aren’t all that exciting, providing their teams with some seemingly simple stretches. Will one or more teams emerge from the mire to declare these statistics essentially meaningless? It is certainly conceivable. But these are each NFL team’s 2022 schedule’s strengths.

The American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference are the two conferences into which the 32 clubs of the league are divided (NFC). Each conference’s 16 teams are divided into four divisions, each with four teams: East, North, South, and West.

With one bye week, each team will play 17 regular-season games. Teams will alternate host eight regular season games and two preseason games, or nine regular season games and one preseason game, during each season. In the 2021 season, the AFC played nine of its home games at home.
