When was Nate Diaz born?
Diaz is 37. At age 11, he started martial arts training with his brother Nick.
Nate started the Diaz brothers’ bare-knuckle bouts when he was just 17 years old.
Record and biography
Nate Diaz Diaz made his MMA debut in 2004 and took home a silver medal at the 2005 Pan American Jiu-Jitsu Championships. Diaz joined the UFC in 2007 after competing for the WEC and Strikeforce. By defeating Manvel Gamburyan, he took home the lightweight championship at The Ultimate Fighter 5.
In 26 fights in the UFC, Diaz has a record of 15-11. He engaged in battles with Michael Johnson, Donald Cerrone, Jim Miller, Marcus Davis, Clay Guida, and Donald Cerrone, among other world-class competitors. During his time in the UFC, he received eight Fight of the Night, four Submission of the Night, and one Knockout of the Night bonus awards.
In 2016, Diaz’s battle with Conor McGregor helped him establish himself as a household name. At UFC 196, he filled in at the last second for an injured Rafael dos Anjos. McGregor was put to sleep by Diaz in an unexpected move. The rematch finally happened after several months of anticipation at UFC 202. The two fought one another physically and psychologically, with the tension increasing before the combat.
Diaz was scheduled to face Dustin Poirier in 2018 after an almost two-year absence. Poirier had to leave the bout, though. Diaz wouldn’t play again until he defeated Anthony Pettis in 2019. After that, it was East Coast versus West Coast as he competed against Jorge Masvidal for the BMF Title. In Madison Square Garden, Masvidal defeated Diaz via TKO.

Diaz didn’t engage in combat once more until 2021. He lost to Leon Edwards at UFC 263, after nearly winning the fight in the closing moments.

Diaz has expressed his unhappiness with the UFC and President Dana White in recent months. Even his release from the promotion was requested by him. Diaz criticized the UFC during an appearance on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Hour for failing to match him up with opponents he wanted to face. Diaz described his situation as being a captive.
