This will be an interesting season for Patrick Mahomes given the moves the Chiefs have made in the off-season. The Kansas City Chiefs traded Tyreek Hill to Miami, and he was replaced with JuJu Smith-Schuster, Skyy Moore, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Mahomes will have to adjust without his star playmaker in Hill who he had excellent chemistry. Despite all of this, Mahomes remains a top three player, in his position in fantasy leagues as well as in reality. Therefore, it will be wise to draft him in early.

Patrick Mahomes is into the second year of his mammoth 10-year, $450 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Kansas City Chiefs have reached the conference championship or more in each of his four years, which shows how consistent both he and his team have been with their performances. However, this season, the team will take some time to adjust with their most potent weapon offensively traded in for draft picks.

Mahomes has the tools to deal with the absence of Hill, but both he and his team will need time for that which is a luxury they might not have given that every other team in the division adding superstar talent this offseason in the AFC west. The Chiefs still have a stellar supporting cast for Mahomes as well as arguably the game’s premier offensive play designer in head coach Andy Reid. Mahomes might not lead the NFL fantasy scoring but he should not be far off number one given he is able to stay healthy.

Last season’s passing stats for Mahomes were pretty impressive to say the last, 436 completions on 658 attempts (66.3 completion) for 4,828 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. Receiving on the other hand, 66 attempts for 381 yards and two touchdowns. He finished fourth among QBs in total scoring averaging 24.1 points per game.
