Derrick Henry was selected in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans, and he spent his rookie campaign backing seasoned running back DeMarco Murray. He made his NFL debut against the Minnesota Vikings, starting his first NFL game. In 2020, Henry agreed to a new $50 million four-year deal.

During his six-year tenure with the Titans, Henry contributed to the team’s ability to win two divisional championships and reach the playoffs four times. He owns a number of franchise records and has twice played in the Pro Bowl.

Henry led the NFL with a franchise record of 2,027 running yards in 2020, becoming the eighth player in NFL history to surpass 2,000 rushing yards in a season. He was also awarded the Associated Press first-team All-Pro and FedEx Ground Player of the Year for the second straight season.

Additionally, he was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Year by the 101 Awards in 2020 and received first-team All-Pro recognition from Pro Football Focus, Pro Football Writers of America, and Sporting News. Henry became the first player since LaDainian Tomlinson to lead the NFL in running yards in back-to-back seasons (2019–20).

Henry is significantly bigger than typical running backs at 6’3″ and 247 lb, with a build more akin to a linebacker. As a “power back,” Henry is renowned for using his enormous bulk to overwhelm opponents and avoid tackles. He amassed 1,073 yards after contact in 2020, which is more than 300 yards more than any other rushing back in the league. He also led the league with 34 broken tackles. He’s surely a player to watch out for in the coming season.
