“I Pick Out the Kids”: Bills QB Josh Allen Opens Up on Prioritizing Kids During Autographs, Reminisces Being ‘That kid’

Josh Allen, the quarterback for the Bills, has a plan for signing autographs, and he sticks to it. When backup quarterback Case Keenum pretended to be someone else for a team-produced film to see if he could persuade his teammates to sign autographs, Allen was not duped.

Allen can’t sign for everyone who comes to training camp looking for his signature since there are so many Bills fans there. He puts them first as a result. After practice, Allen said he pauses for kids and gets autographs as he passes the crowds of fans, but he doesn’t like when adults demand autographs.

“I try to sign just for the kids,” Allen said, via the Buffalo News.

“There’s some. You hate to see it and you know it, and you can tell it’s not their item. It is what it is. . . . I pick out the kids. I do apologize to the adults. Kids are kinda what makes this go. I remember being that kid.”

In addition to Keenum, other Bills fans’ boldness in the hunt for autographs this summer has drawn headlines from throughout the country. One such incident saw objects being thrown at Allen and wide receiver Stefon Diggs last Friday following the practice at Highmark Stadium.

It’s understandable that Allen would find it odd that adult admirers, some of whom are considerably older than him, place him on a pedestal and ask for his autograph. However, the youngsters who attend a training camp in search of Allen’s autograph are not let down.
