NFL MVP odds: Who are the top 5 quarterbacks that can win the award for the 2022-23 season?

According to multiple reports, Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen is currently the favourite to win the NFL MVP award for the 2022-23 season. This is primarily due to the hype surrounding Tom Brady’s decision to forego retirement, Aaron Rodgers’ decision to stay with the Packers, and Russell Wilson’s switch to the Broncos. But listed below are the top 5 QB candidates who can win the NFL MVP award next term.

Josh Allen(+700)

With Allen in charge in 2021, the Bills frequently appeared unbeatable, but they also suffered defeats to the Steelers and Jaguars on the way to an 11-6 record. Only Matthew Stafford and Trevor Lawrence had more passes picked off than Allen’s 15 interceptions, but Allen still delivered when it counted the most.

Allen proved his mettle in two postseason games, and even though Mahomes and the Chiefs eliminated the Bills, Allen tossed nine touchdown passes on 637 passing yards and zero interceptions.

Tom Brady(+800)

When Brady came out of retirement, his chances of winning the NFL MVP plummeted. There was some scepticism about whether it would hold because he was still listed on the board at +4,500 before making his declaration. Those odds were doomed when it became known he would be competing again, and the market changed the day after the announcement to reflect this.

Although the season had one more game left, the ageless marvel set a career record with 5,316 passing yards and led the NFL with 43 throwing touchdowns. Brady has previously won the prize three times (in 2007, 2010, and 2017) and might become the first person to win it four times (Rodgers, Peyton Manning).

Patrick Mahomes (+900)

Despite having a less than ideal season by his standards, Mahomes still completed 4,839 passes for 37 touchdowns. Throughout his 17 games, he did, however, throw a career-high 13 interceptions. The Chiefs appeared to be in danger of missing the playoffs after starting the season with a 3-4 record, but something changed. After Week 7, the Chiefs had a 9-1 record, and Mahomes played well. Over his final ten games, he passed for 2,746 yards and 19 touchdowns. Most significantly, he wasn’t making mistakes; he was responsible for only four of his 13 choices during that period.

Tyreek Hill’s absence is a significant blow for Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense and may affect the outstanding statistics Mahomes has historically produced as a perennial MVP contender.

Aaron Rodgers (+1000)

The hoopla surrounding Rodgers is resolved after he signed a four-year, tremendously expensive contract to join Green Bay in the offseason. He’s among the favorites to repeat as MVP of the regular season. If Rodgers succeeds, he will join Peyton Manning as the only player to win five different seasons.

The 38-year-old Rodgers’ age hasn’t been a problem either. After overcoming a toe injury, he passed for 4,115 yards over 16 games, 37 touchdowns, and just four interceptions, helping the Packers to a 13-3 record (Green Bay lost the lone game he missed).

With the Raiders losing top receiver Davante Adams, watching how the four-time MVP performs this coming season will be intriguing.

Justin Herbert (+1,000)

The rising star of the Chargers joins the Green Bay great at +1,000 as L.A. takes steps to protect its promising player while he is still under rookie terms. In 2021, Herbert showed off his exceptional athletic prowess, culminating in a magnificent performance in Week 18 against the Raiders.

The former Oregon Duck will soon compete for MVP when his team succeeds, and he will be with the league’s finest players weekly.
