“I Mean Imagine Having a F**king Conversation Like That”- Dana White Reacts to Nate Diaz’s ‘Being Held Hostage’ Comments

Over the past week or so, Nate Diaz has become increasingly critical of Dana White and the UFC for holding him ‘hostage’ to his contract. Diaz sat down for an interview with Ariel Helwani,i where the two men spoke for the better part of two hours. In the interview, Diaz said that he has been wanting to get out of the UFC for a long time now, but the promotion will not let him do so.

In the post-fight press conference at UFC Long Island, Dana White shared his thoughts on Nate Diaz’s comments and the UFC holding him ‘hostage’. White said, “No, I mean when isn’t Nate Diaz saying something crazy. I have said this a million times, and I will say it again, We can’t hold guys hostage, it is not possible. I owe you three fights a year, If I don’t fight you three times a year, I have to pay you. How can I hold him hostage?”

In the interview, Diaz said that he let Dana White know that the only two fighters he would be willing to fight are Israel Adesanya and Francis Ngannou. When asked for his reaction to the same White said, “And what should I say to that? I mean imagine having a f**king conversation like that. I mean it is, come on. Nate Diaz vs Francis Ngannou….. What should I say?”

Nate Diaz hits back at Dana White for his recent comments

Following White’s comments, Nate Diaz took to Twitter to respond. He said, “Dana said Francis Ngannou was injured and couldn’t fight right now. Idk why he was so confused in interview. And in the last 9 months I been offered 0 fights and I asked for 5 legitimate opponents. Thanks u for the kind words can I go now.”

In the interview, Diaz also mentioned that he knows the UFC is keeping him on the sidelines to book him for a fight against Conor McGregor when he is fit. However, the younger Diaz brother has no interest in fighting McGregor for the third time.
