Full Send Reporter Explains How a Meme Caused Nate Diaz to Stockton Slap Him at UFC 276

Nate Diaz and his elder brother Nick Diaz have a reputation of not accepting any form of disrespect. If put in such a situation, both brothers will react in the appropriate manner and worry about the consequences later. Backstage at UFC 276, a similar situation occurred.

Diaz was approached by a reporter representing Full Send MMA. The reporter asked Diaz a few questions before the Stockton native slapped his microphone out of his hands and then proceeded to dish out his infamous Stockton Slap, after which the cameras cut out.

Full send MMA reporter details why Nate Diaz stockton slapped him

In a recent episode of the ‘Full Send Podcast’, the reporter detailed exactly why Nate Diaz was aggressive towards him. He said, “So what had happened was, he had a training partner, Nick Maximov… who now fights in the UFC. And there’s a thing going on about Nate Diaz possibly fighting Khamzat Chimaev and there was also a video that TMZ had posted and Nate Diaz is like, they’re like, ‘Yo, when are you gonna fight Khamzat?’ and he’s like ‘f**k that … fight my boy over here.”… it just awkwardly pans the camera to Nick Maximov and he wasn’t expecting it and he’s like ‘yeah man’. So I made a meme about it and I took the song … Oh no, oh no. So when the camera panned to Nick Maximov, I played that and I zoomed in on Nick Maximov’s face. So that was the first one.”

The reporter continued, “And then the second one, in his last fight, he [Maximov] had got tapped out. He got tapped out in the first round. … and naturally og being og, he was a bit harsh on him. So I screenshotted a Nick Maximov, obviously slept in the cage and I put the Nate Diaz quote. I put ‘Yo, Nick Maximov or Khamzat Chimaev, come fight my boy right here.”
