‘Stipe Miocic Could Possibly be Harder Fight than Francis Ngannou’- UFC Commentator Has Some Advice for Jon Jones Ahead of UFC Heavyweight Debut

Former UFC middleweight champion Stipe Miocic spoke out via his YouTube channel and commented on the impending return of Jon Jones to the octagon. ‘Bones’ has been out of action since February 2020 and is yet to make his long-awaited heavyweight debut.

Jones is slated to face consensus heavyweight GOAT Stipe Miocic in his first heavyweight fight and there’s no doubt that this is a tall order for Jones to follow up on. In fact, Michael ‘The Count’ Bisping believes Jones may be better off waiting for Francis Ngannou to return from knee surgery recovery rather than face a technical ace like Miocic.

Bisping rightfully anointed Stipe Miocic as the greatest heavyweight of all time, and he believes Miocic will pose a tougher challenge to Jones than Ngannou. ‘The Predator’ has several tools in his arsenal, but it’s well known that his famed power is his go-to weapon of choice.

On the other hand, Stipe Miocic’s all-around technical game is something to marvel at and he can beat any heavyweight with a well-rounded approach.

“If he fights Stipe Miocic, there’s a reality that Stipe Miocic beats him. Let’s be honest. Stipe is the greatest heavyweight of all time. The most successful defenses, the most knockouts, knocked out Fabrício Werdum… stopped D.C with body shots… and he beat Francis Ngannou as well.”

“Some of the performances have been incredible. The man is a legend in his arm right. So I think in a weird way, in terms of skill set and stylistically, Stipe Miocic could possibly be harder fight than Francis Ngannou.”

“Francis Ngannou, we know what he brings to the table. It’s that freakish power. That power that just…if he connects with people, he puts you to sleep and he doesn’t even need to be a flush shot. Unbloodybelievable! So that’s what Jones would have to avoid in that fight.” [h/t bjpenn.com]

Jon Jones will likely have some ring rust since he’s not actively competed in over 2.5 years thus making his return fight against an ace like Miocic, an extremely tall order.
