“I Am Not Talking About That”- Dana White Shuts Down the Idea of a Rematch With Floyd Mayweather for Conor McGregor; Insists on UFC Return

We have reached the halfway mark of 2022, and as it has done in the years prior, the UFC has found a way to raise the bar higher with each passing year. So far this year, the promotion has gone to old venues after a huge break, filled out stadium after stadium and has plans of venturing into new markets. One of the few things that would make this year better for UFC fans would be the return of ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor.

In a recent interview, Dana White provided an update on his star man and his plans of returning to action. He said, “Not me, I am not talking about that (rematch with Floyd Mayweather). It’s going to be in the cage. Conor’s looking to come back the end of this year, early next year. Well when I do talk to Conor, Conor wants to fight. Conor gets all kinds of offers. From movie role and all these other things at he could go and do and make money, he doesn’t want to do any of that. Conor wants to fight.”

Conor McGregor is perhaps the biggest star in combat sports at the moment, not just the UFC. Therefore, there is no surprise that there are a host of opportunities available for him both inside and outside the cage. Most recently, reports started to emerge that talks were being held behind the scene between the Mayweather camp and the McGregor camp for a rematch. However, there have not been any developments on these rumors.

‘The Notorious’ is close to being able to train in MMA once again. He recently posted videos of him performing spinning kicks using his leg that was fractured.

However, at this point, there is no official timeline for his return. The common consensus is that ‘Mystic Mac’ might not be ready in time to compete this year. Rather, he will make his return towards the first half of next year.
