“Save Your Chickens” – Max Holloway Advises Forbes Highest-Paid Athlete Conor McGregor Against UFC Return

Max Holloway is set to return to action this weekend as he takes on Alexander Volkanovski in what will be the third installation of their trilogy. The fight against ‘The Great’ will be Holloway’s 26th fight in the UFC. During his time with the promotion, ‘Blessed’ has faced and secured wins over the very best the UFC has had to offer including current lightweight champion Charles Oliveira and the former two-division world champion Conor McGregor.

‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor secured an impressive first-round finish on his UFC debut, after which he was booked for a fight against Max Holloway in just his second UFC bout. Although the bout ended with McGregor getting his hands raised, it has not closed the rivalry between ‘Blessed’ and ‘The Notorious’.

In a video posted on his social media, McGregor walked from side to side as he stared Holloway down who was being shown on TV during the fighter introductions ahead of his fight against Yair Rodriguez in November 2021.

Max Holloway offers advice to Conor McGregor on his UFC return

In a recent interview with Brett Okaomto, when asked if he would entertain the idea of a rematch with Conor McGregor, Holloway said, “With that Conor fight, I tell you all the time. You know we on the shortlist with that. But first things first, we got Volk…With all this Conor talk and saying whatever, he never committed to coming back.

‘Blessed’ continued, “He never once said that he’d come back. And rightfully so, He shouldn’t. Conor is what everybody wants to be. Everybody wants to get in this fight game, make the money and then save your chickens…I wouldn’t even blame him if he didn’t want to come back…”

If Max Holloway loses this weekend, he would be a strong candidate to take on McGregor on his return. However, if he wins the fight, he will either have to defend his belt against a top contender at featherweight or have yet another rematch with Alexander Volkanovski.
