Eli Manning speaks on Daniel Jones’ potential and how NY Giants coach Brian Daboll can get the best out of the QB
In 2019, Pat Shurmur was the head coach and Mike Shula was the offensive coordinator when the New York Giants selected QB Daniel Jones. The Giants’ head coach in 2020 was Joe Judge, while Jason Garrett oversaw the offense. The judge made a comeback in 2021, but this time he dismissed Garrett mid-season and substituted him with Freddie Kitchens. Now, Mike Kafka is the offensive coordinator and Brian Daboll is the head coach of the Giants.
Earlier on Sunday, Daniel Jones’ predecessor, Eli Manning, talked about his views on the quarterback’s prospects with the team as Jones was getting ready for the 2022 season. Jones, 25, will have to prove he can be New York’s quarterback of the future after the Giants declined to take up his fifth-year choice for the 2022 campaign. This will be a “make or break” campaign for Jones.
Even though it won’t be for several months before we know whether Jones is capable of handling the job. His former teammate Eli Manning suggested on Friday at the Manning Passing Academy that Jones might stand a better chance of succeeding with the assistance of the Giants’ new coaching staff, which is headed by head coach Brian Daboll.
All things considered, Daniel Jones has had to quickly adapt to a variety of coaching styles. Eli Manning also believes that Jones has a difficult scenario in that regard.
Tom Coughlin led the Giants during the first 12 seasons of Manning’s career. And Manning observed that this consistency in coaching was much greater early in his own career. Manning believes that this stability was essential to his development.
Eli Manning speaks on New York Giants’ future under coach Daboll
In an interview with NFL Network’s Rhett Lewis on NFL Total Access, Manning stated, “I believe with Coach Daboll, and what they’re doing, and their staff, and (new GM) Joe Schoen, having been around the place some, the vibe has changed. I’m happy for Daniel because I know how hard he’s worked and that he’s experienced many different offenses and coaching changes. Hopefully, this will be the perfect one.
Jones will enter free agency following this season since the Giants declined the fifth-year option on his rookie deal. He has the chance to earn a hefty second deal, and if he doesn’t, the Giants will maintain their head coach but switch quarterbacks.

The most recent position Daboll had was offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills when he helped Josh Allen become one of the league’s best quarterbacks. Jones could be able to work with Daboll and become the player the Giants intended him to be if Manning’s perceptions of Daboll’s good impact on the club are accurate.
