‘It’s Time to Run It Back’- Glover Teixeira Makes a Direct Plea to Dana White for a Rematch Against Jiri Prochazka

Glover Teixeira was fired up in a recent interview and he’s only got a rematch with Jiri Prochazka on his mind. The Brazilian was defeated by Prochazka in the fifth round of their title fight at UFC 275 and the end came via RNC submission with just 28 seconds left in the contest.

What’s more, Glover Teixeira was ahead on the scorecards up to that point and it seemed as though he would secure his first title defense. Certain decisions Teixeira made in the fight perhaps contributed to his eventual loss and the Brazilian revealed that he was upset with himself for the way things played out.

“In terms of performance, I’m also upset with what happened. I had the perfect performance, was winning the fight and winning well, and I’m sad with the mistake I made. That’s why we have to do it again. It’s time to run it back. He has to realize that’s the fight everybody wants to see right now. Those who missed the first one will watch it now.”

‘It’s time for him to make money. He’ll make pay-per-view [money], he’s the champion. Not to mention that we did the talking inside the Octagon. I don’t need to talk a bunch of crap to try to promote this fight, to try to earn the rematch. I really want this rematch [to happen], but I don’t want to have to talk [crap] for it. Many people get lost trying to do it.”

Teixeira doubled down on his intent to fight for the belt once more and urged Dana White directly to consider granting him an immediate rematch. He also brought up the fact that Jiri Prochazka himself wasn’t happy with the way he performed when they collided back at UFC 275.

“Dana White has to look at this. Fans are asking for this rematch. I had a good performance the entire fight, only lost one round, and was dominating the fifth round. [Prochazka] is not happy with his performance? Do it again,” Teixeira added. [h/t bjpenn.com]

Given the way their first fight played out, fans certainly won’t complain if both men run it back once more. Their fight is being lauded as one of the best in the history of the lightweight division, second only to the now-iconic Jon Jones vs Alexander Gustafsson 1 fight.
