VIDEO: Jiri Prochazka Submits Glover Teixeira with 28 Seconds Left to Become First UFC Light Heavyweight Champion From Czech Republic

Undefeated 3-0 UFC ace Jiri Prochazka shocked the world by submitting Glover Teixeira in their title fight at UFC 275. The Czech fighter sunk in a clutch RNC choke with just 28 seconds remaining in the fight.

Many fans and pundits picked Teixeira to be the one to get it done via submission. However, Jiri Prochazka managed to turn the tables.

Leading up to the finish, the scrap was an all-out war and there was no shortage of exciting exchanges right off the rip. Prochazka found a home for his spinning elbows and knees and Teixeira was able to absorb all the punishment that came his way.

Additionally, Glover Teixeira grounded Prochazka in several exciting grappling exchanges with some lethal ground and pound to boot. Jiri Prochazka’s reversal rate for the submissions was truly impressive as he was ending most of the ground exchanges with top control when the rounds were over.

What’s next for both men after UFC 275?

Following the contest, fans wanted to know if this was the end of the road now that Glover Teixeira lost his strap. At 42, it wouldn’t be overly surprising if he decided to walk away from what is a Hall of Fame-worthy career. However, much to the delight of fans in the arena and at home, Teixeira revealed that he will be continuing his journey in the UFC.

As for the champion, he is now undefeated in his last 13 fights and has racked up 11 straight finishes all the way to a gold strap. His last loss came all the back in 2015 to ‘King Mo’ Lawal and he’s grown massively since then.

He’s primed to face Jan Blachowicz in his next fight and the former champion from Poland was in attendance in anticipation of facing the winner of the main event. Given their fighting styles, it’s almost a foregone conclusion that one man is sure to be finished via strikes before the final bell goes off.
