Michael Chandler Explains Why a Fight Against Conor McGregor Is More Than Just a ‘Red Panty Night’

Michael Chandler has put on action-packed performances ever since he signed with the UFC a little over a year ago. During the time that he has been in the UFC, Chandler has been in a title fight against Charles Oliveira, in a fight of the year against Justin Gaethje, and now is in contention for knockout of the year with his stunning front-kick knockout win over Tony Ferguson.

After his recent win, Chandler called out Conor McGregor for a fight. The two men have previously had cordial exchanges on Twitter, with McGregor stating that he would like to Chandler at some point in the future for sure.

In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Chandler shared his thoughts on a fight with McGregor and why it has more to it than money. He said, “There are so many different things attached to a Conor fight, everybody talks about the payday red panty night and all that kinda stuff. For me, I just want the biggest stage possible against the biggest competitor that the sport has ever seen.”

‘Iron’ continued, “We may never see another talent, another combat sports icon like Conor McGregor, and not just until I retire, we’re talking for the next couple decades. Obviously, there are a lot of big fights Conor can take, but man, I would love to be the other guy on the other side of the octagon when the cage door closes. And go out there and make something special.”
