“If I’m Being Honest, That Guy’s Really F**king Good”- Aljamain Sterling Gives His Take on Sean O’Malley

The bantamweight division is without a doubt one of the most stacked divisions in the UFC. The 135-pound division has not one but 5 former champions in the top 15 excluding the champion himself. ‘Funkmaster’ cemented his place as the top dog at 135-pounds with his recent win over Petr Yan at UFC 273.

After the win, Sterling called out TJ Dillashaw for a fight. However, there are a host of options available for Sterling to chose from for his next fight. One of the options is fan-favorite ‘Sugar’ Sean O’Malley.

In a recent episode of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, Sterling shared his thoughts on ‘Sugar’ as a competitor and his skillset. He said, “Honestly, if I’m being honest, that guy’s really f******* good. I like his honesty and the way he breaks down fights and analyzes it kind of reminds me of myself except he’s a little bit more brash about it. He’s like ‘Frankie [Edgar] was winning that entire fight with ‘Chito’ [Vera], he was winning 13 minutes of the fight until he got caught with the front kick.’ Very accurate. ‘Chito’ was losing that fight.”

‘Sugar’ continued, “The way he breaks down fights, he’s a good analyst and honest about what he’s looking at. His terminology may not always be the best to describe it but he knows what he’s talking about….. I feel like he might be a little bit weak though,” Sterling said. “I feel like if I grab that guy and put a body lock on that guy, I’d probably break his ribs and get a submission with a standing body lock. Just crunch his back like the Hulk.”

Aljamain Sterling to take on TJ Dillashaw next?

The champion and Dillashaw are in agreement that they want to face each other the next time they step in the UFC octagon, an idea Dana White likes as well.

However, if O’Malley secures a win over Munhoz in his next fight, given the star power he has, he will be in strong contention for a title fight.
