Michael Chandler Hits Out at ‘Wannabe’ Dustin Poirier for Suggesting He Will Not Be Able to Absorb Conor McGregor’s Shots

Michael Chandler has set the lightweight division on fire ever since his explosive debut against Dan Hooker at UFC 257. ‘Iron’ has competed four times in the UFC with a record of two apiece in wins and losses. In his most recent outing, Chandler landed a front kick from hell that shut the lights out on Tony Ferguson in what will easily be a front runner for knockout of the year. 

After the win, Chandler called out two men for a fight. Charles Oliveira was the first name on the list as he wants to avenge his loss from last year. The second fighter on the list was Conor McGregor. The former Bellator champion believes that a fight between him and McGregor will be extremely entertaining. 

While this has been well received by fans, former interim champion Dustin Poirier issued a warning to Michael Chandler about a possible fight with McGregor. He said, “I think he called out Conor (McGregor). Conor is a dangerous fight for him, too, you know. I’m not saying Chandler’s chinny or anything. But he gets hurt in a lot of his fights. And guys like Conor, they can punch.”

‘The Diamond’ continued, “If you are getting hurt by Tony Ferguson and dropped by (Charles) Oliveira, guys like me, guys like Conor, if we touch your chin. It’s gonna be bad, you know.”

Michael Chandler claps back at Dustin Poirier for his warnings

In a video shared on social media, Chandler hit back at Dustin Poirier for his warning about Chandler’s chin. ‘Iron’ said, “Nobody gives a rip about your wannabe, don’t make sense, lost your shine so you’re trying to steal everybody else’s shine, back door MMA math. Zip it.”

‘Iron’ is one of the many fighters that are vying for a shot against McGregor on his return. However, at this point in time, a fight between Chandler and Poirier looks more likely to take place than a bout against McGregor.
