Mike Tyson’s Coach Details What Separates Israel Adesanya From Other Fighters in His Division
‘The Last Style Bender’ Israel Adesanya is slowly establishing himself as one of the best champions ever at middleweight. The Nigerian born champion recently defended his belt for the fourth time against a familiar face in Robert Whitaker. ‘Izzy’ is now scheduled to take on Jared Cannonier in a bid to make his fifth title defense in July.
In a recent interview with The Schmo, Rafael Cordeiro, the head coach at King’s MMA and the man behind fighters such as Mike Tyson, Marvin Vettori among others shared his thoughts on Adesanya and what makes him special as a champion.
He said, “He’s [Israel Adesanya] [a] tough guy… we lost some fights [against] him. His mental, I believe, his mental make a lot of difference. His technique is good but his mental is better than his technique. He [has] high IQ inside the octagon. I believe this is a big difference between him and a lot of fighters. But, he’s not unbreakable. In the future, for sure, we’re gonna find a way to beat him,” said Rafael Cordeiro.”
Israel Adesanya aims to make history at 185-pounds
‘The Last Style Bender’ recently signed a new contract with the UFC that makes him one of the highest paid athletes in the history of the promotion. Ever since he won his belt against Robert Whittaker, Adesanya has been in a league of his own in terms of how he conducts and promotes himself both inside and outside the octagon.
Although he is no-longer undefeated, his ability to take risks and how active he is as a champion has made him an extremely popular figure in the UFC. In his title reign so far, Adesanya has had two rematches against the likes of Robert Whittaker and Marvin Vettori.
