‘Keep that Weight Low, Buddy’- Luke Rockhold Goes After Paulo Costa Ahead of Highly-Anticipated Clash
Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold was fired up when talking about his targeted bout against Paulo Costa that has been moved around on several occasions. Both men have been on each other’s radar for a while now, but it seems as though extraneous factors have come in the way of the booking.
In a recent chat with the Schmo, Luke Rockhold aired his frustrations surrounding the difficulty in securing a date to face the Brazilian. Moreover, Rockhold has been out of competition since 2019 and he’s chomping at the bit to finally make his comeback.
“Paulo Costa is pathetic,” Rockhold told The Schmo. “The kid needs to sign the contract and agree to the weight, agree to the date, agree to the dance. Let’s go.”
“It was July 2nd. It was July 30th. Now this b*tch is trying to move it to f*cking August. I’m sick and tired of this f*cking shit. I really want to beat that f*cker’s ass. So, we’re going to August.”

“He wants a prayer”- Luke Rockhold doesn’t hold back
Additionally, Luke Rockhold expanded on how this was the only fight that made sense, as it was on the UFC’s radar as well. Being away from UFC action for a meaningful period of time has clearly fired up Rockhold, who is waiting to show Costa how it’s done.

“There’s nothing else out there right now that makes sense,” Rockhold said. “We agreed to the deal, the UFC wants the fight, I want the fight. Who knows the f*ck Paulo wants… He wants a prayer. So keep those prayers and keep that weight low, buddy. I’ll see you soon.” [h/t middleeasy.com]
Paulo Costa caused a major stir with his massive weight miss against Marvin Vettori that ultimately led to their fight being contested at 205-pounds. The shift in weight class during fight week was unprecedented and has led to a lot of speculation around Costa’s dedication to making weight.
Moreover, fans and fellow fighters have used this incident to take shots at Costa and the Brazilian will have to be consistent with his weight management moving forward.
