Sean O’Malley Uses Conor McGregor Example to Share Why the UFC Will Allow Him to Enter the Boxing Ring
Ever since Conor McGregor stepped into the boxing ring to take on Floyd Mayweather, the number of UFC fighters wanting to do the same has risen exponentially. ‘The Notorious’ made upwards of $100 million in one fight which is something he might have never been able to make in the UFC.
After witnessing the kind of money McGregor made in the boxing world, it was only natural for other fighters in the UFC to want to do the same. The likes of Kamaru Usman, and Francis Ngannou among others are UFC fighters that are actively looking for a fight against a boxer but have had no support from the UFC or Dana White thus far.
In a recent episode of his podcast, ‘Sugar’ Sean O’Malley shared why he thinks he will be allowed to box while most fighters currently are not being allowed to do the same. He said, “I think I’ll be able to box. I think UFC will let me box someday. If I can build myself as big as I plan on being able to, as big as Conor if not bigger at that point, they will let me box.”
Will we see another UFC fighter in the boxing ring?
The UFC is currently at a crossroads with its heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou over his contract. ‘The Predator’ wants his new contract to be structured in a way that he can take part in boxing fights as well. This can be a slippery slope for the UFC. If it allows Francis to do so, it might prompt other fighters to ask for such contracts as well.

If the UFC allows multiple fighters to do so, their activity level in the promotion will drop significantly, which will not be good for Dana White and his business. That being said, Dana White is a shrewd businessman and will definitely allow a fighter to step into the boxing ring if it makes sense and it makes him a lot of money. In the case of Ngannou and Usman, it does not make sense.
