‘What the Fu** is Anderson Silva Talking About?’- UFC President Dana White Denies Bad-Mouthing Anderson Silva
Apart from talking about the fights that just went down, UFC President Dana White uses the platform of the post-fight press conference to air his personal grievances and set the record straight. Notably, that’s exactly what White did when talking to the media after UFC 274 had wrapped up.
The long-time UFC boss set the record straight regarding certain statements made by Anderson Silva in the media recently. ‘The Spider’ criticized the UFC and claimed that they dispose of their top stars mercilessly once they are no longer in their prime. These comments came as a shock to some people, including Dana White.
Anderson Silva went on to say, “When I was done in UFC, everybody — especially Dana White — said, ‘Oh, Anderson can’t fight anymore. Nobody in the same age [group] with Anderson can fight, it’s terrible,’ and blah, blah, blah. And talking a lot of sh*t about me,” Silva told. “And I feel disrespected because it doesn’t matter what happened — fight is fight. You can win, you can lose.” [h/t MMA Fighting.com]
Dana White denies having disrespected Anderson Silva
White vehemently denied having ever spoken negatively about Anderson Silva and mentioned how there was merely one instance of criticism from back in 2010. He went on to say that despite Silva’s losing record towards the end of his UFC tenure; the UFC stuck by him and allowed him to fight out his contract.
“Anderson Silva. What the fu** is Anderson Silva talking about? When have any of you ever heard me talk negatively except for the fight in Abu Dhabi. Never, never talked bad about Anderson Silva.”
“Not only that, we let the guy fight through his contract and he lost like 7 of his last 8 or 8 of his last 9 fight. I don’t know where the hell this is coming from. Then I started to make it so he couldn’t make money after? I said Jake Paul is looking to fight somebody, fight Anderson Silva.”
It’s a matter of public record that Dana White was a major advocate for Anderson Silva facing Jake Paul which would have netted the Brazilian a lot of money. It seems as though the genesis of their feud was born from behind-the-scenes interactions.
