What did Ja Morant say to Steph Curry? Grizzlies star exchanged words with Warriors icon after Game 2
The Memphis Grizzlies stormed back to win Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, tying the second-round playoff series at 1-1. What promised to be a fascinating series is now living up to it and even more, as players from both camps appear to be going hell for leather.
The Grizzlies were able to hold off the Warriors in Game 2, which ended 106-101. Morant scored 47 of those points for the team from Memphis and didn’t hold back after the final whistle. The recently-crowned Most Improved Player had some words for Warriors star Steph Curry.
What did Ja Morant say to Steph Curry?
According to reports, Morant was heard telling Steph, “We’re going to have some fun.” The 22-year-old was probably referring to the intense series the two teams are currently locked in. The Grizzlies suffered a narrow 117-116 in Game 1 after Klay Thompson denied a potential win for the Grizzlies when he blocked Ja Morant’s last-ditch effort.
While speaking to reporters after the game, Morant also clarified his comments towards Curry and explained that it was the Warriors star who initially began chirping at him after Golden State’s Game 1 win. Morant said that he was only dishing back at what the three-time NBA champion said, “Had some friendly words with Steph [Curry]. After Game 1 he came to me and Jaren [Jackson] and said, ‘It’s going to be a battle. We’re going to have some fun.’ I was able to, you know, return that message tonight, saying the same thing.” explained Morant.

He further added, “I always say this is my favourite matchup, playing against a guy like him, a great talent. It’s going to be a battle.” Morant and the Grizzlies got past the Minnesota Timberwolves in the previous round of the NBA Playoffs.
Game 3 of the series is set to take place on Saturday and if any of their last two games are anything to go by, the Warriors and Grizzlies are set to have another crunch game this weekend.
