“He’s Lucky He Defeated Me”- Glover Teixeira Isn’t Threatened by THIS Former Opponent and Surging Bellator MMA Light Heavyweight Fighter

UFC light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira is known to be rather soft-spoken and isn’t someone who engages in trash talk. However, in this week’s episode of Trocação Franca, the Brazilian UFC champion made it known that top Bellator MMA light heavyweight fighter Corey Anderson wasn’t on his radar in any capacity.

In his own way, Teixeira went on record saying that despite having suffered a loss to Corey Anderson while he was in the UFC, he wasn’t overly concerned about certain claims being made by Anderson. ‘Overtime’ Anderson has been talking about being the best light heavyweight fighter on the planet

Glover Teixeira dismisses Corey Anderson

The Brazilian UFC champion acknowledged that he had a poor outing against Anderson, but also said that there was no way he would have been finished by the current Bellator MMA fighter. Additionally, he reminded fans that Blachowicz was the man to finish Anderson, and it was he who dethroned Blachowicz by submitting him at UFC 267.

“It’s water under the bridge. Corey went there and was better that night [in 2018]. It was a bad fight, I lost a decision, [but] it’s a fight that could have gone five or 10 rounds and he wouldn’t have knocked me out or submitted me, wouldn’t have done anything.”

“If we have to fight again one day, of course I’m going to win, man. I’m way better now,” Teixeira said of Anderson. “I stayed in the organization and he was released, you know? He lost after that. He got knocked out by Blachowicz. He got knocked out by the man I took the belt from.”

It’s clear as day that Glover Teixeira is only focused on his own title run as he holds the coveted UFC 205-pound strap. The belt has a significant history with great champions like Rashad Evans, Rampage Jackson, Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz, and Jon Jones, all having held it at some point.

“He’s lucky he defeated me and can say it, but, man, that doesn’t bother me,” Teixeira continued. “I would rather watch birds sing. I won’t stress out over that, because that fight … everything is different today. That was four years ago, 2018. I’m the champion of the world now. [h/t MMA Fighting.com]

Teixeira has his work cut out for him in the UFC as he is primed to face the ever-explosive Jiří Procházka on the docket. It remains to be seen if there will ever be a cross-promotional fight to determine the best light heavyweight fighter on the planet.
