“You’re Begging to Participate in What You Call a “Dying” Sport”- Jake Paul and Stephen Espinoza Bash Kamaru Usman for His Recent Comments on Boxing
UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman has been involved in a war of words with the likes of Jake Paul and Showtime executive Stephen Espinoza over the past few days. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ who is currently looking to book a fight against Canelo Alvarez has ruffled a few feathers with his comments that boxing is a ‘dying sport’ which has not been well received by the likes of Paul and Espinoza.
If you were receiving a fair share of revenues, you wouldn't be embarrassingly stalking @Canelo on social media. You're an accompliahed UFC champion, yet you're begging to participate in what you call a"dying" sport? Why? Because that "dying" sport pays way more $ than your own. https://t.co/CDeS7D0j2D

After Usman’s comments, Paul put out a tweet saying, “Kamaru Usman: “boxing is dying” Also Kamaru Usman: “pls Canelo fight me for a payday”. Espinoza also shared his take on the matter when he said, “If you were receiving a fair share of revenues, you wouldn’t be embarrassingly stalking @Canelo on social media. You’re an accompliahed UFC champion, yet you’re begging to participate in what you call a”dying” sport? Why? Because that “dying” sport pays way more $ than your own.”

The beef between Espinoza and the UFC and Dana White goes long back. During the promotions for the Mayweather vs McGregor fight, ‘The Notorious’ famously dubbed Espinoza a ‘weasel’. White has also not held back from criticizing Espinoza and went as far as to brand him a ‘creepy little dude’.

Kamaru Usman playing his cards the right way?
‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has been gunning for a fight against Alvarez for a while now. However, the call outs have been pretty one-sided with Usman failing to get much of a response from Alvarez other than a single word ‘payday’.
However, with the recent back and forth, it appears as though Alvarez has taken notice of Usman and all the talking he has been doing on social media. Whether or not that materializes into a fight remains to be seen.
Dana White has made it very clear that he is not interested in Usman fighting Alvarez. Fortunately for Usman, if he is able to convince White, the UFC president has a good relationship with Alvarez’s promoter, which will make getting a deal done easier.
