Joe Rogan breaks down Nick Diaz’s impact on MMA
There are very few people who know Nick Diaz like Jake Shields, so Joe Rogan took the opportunity to talk about how Nick Diaz changed the way MMA was perceived by fans. Stockton’s favorite son is arguably one of the most beloved fighters in the history of the sport.
A reason for this is that he always brought forth sheer violence inside the cage.
“The amount of love that that guy gets is off the charts. When they introduced him during that fight too, the whole audience went crazy. He’s a very important part of the history of MMA and people don’t realize what a big part he is. You need to watch him in the Strikeforce days cause when he was Strikeforce champion, you watch the Frank Shamrock fight, you watch the Paul Daley fight.”
Additionally, Joe Rogan spoke to Shields about a memorable match-up involving Nick Diaz and Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley. The aforementioned scrap is still considered one of the best single-round MMA fights of all time.
“Nick just went at him [Paul Daley] in that fight. Nick just swarmed him. Just the volume of strikes, you can see like that kind of fight is where he thrived… And he talks so much shi* to these guys.”
There are several notable highlights in Nick Diaz’s illustrious career and one such memorable bout will always be Diaz vs Daley. Diaz will go down as an all-time great welterweight and with his recent return to the UFC, fans are still hopeful for another firecracker performance.
