With the win, Chimaev will now move on to the spot of being the next contender in line, waiting to face off against the winner of Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards. It’s safe to say that the welterweight division has a lot of shine to it for the foreseeable future.
UFC 273: Burns vs Chimaev- The hype train is tested
Khamzat Chimaev started off the fight on a strong footing and he went on to land several power-packed punches that seemed to catch Burns’ attention. The beginning of the fight also saw some minor wrestling tussles that eventually decreased as the fight went on. Gilbert Burns began to fight some rhythm towards the end of the round and carried on the momentum to give fans an incredible round 2.

‘Durinho’ had immense success against Chimaev in round 2 and even dropped the Swedish-Russian fighter on the canvas. The lead jab worked well for Burns as well as his attempts to throw shots to the body. Chiefly, it was Burns’ ferocious power hooks that ultimately brought him success in the fight.

However, round 2 nearly ended controversially as Khamzat Chimaev tried to palm Burns’ face after the round was over. At the moment, the exchange came off as peculiar and served to confuse some fans and even the commentators.
Holy shit.

‘Borz’ came back strong and determined in round three and he began to land some heavy shots that backed up Burns. By this time in the fight, Burns was fatigued and it seemingly made the difference as he lost a close decision on the cards.
