“I’m Winning This Fight or We’re Both Taking a Trip to the Hospital”- Aljamain Sterling Makes a Bold Prediction for His Fight Against Petr Yan at UFC 273
Aljamain Sterling has a lot to prove at UFC 273. ‘Funkmaster’ has been bearing the brunt of the UFC fan base ever since he won the belt against Petr Yan after an illegal knee by the Russian, which resulted in a disqualification.
Since the fight, Sterling has been out for an extended period of time due to a neck injury that required surgery and rehabilitation. Due to this Sterling had to withdraw from the fight not once but twice, which further infuriated the fans.
In a recent interaction with a journalist on Twitter, Sterling shared his thoughts on how the fight will play out. Heath said, “He’s very good, but Yan was dominating first fight. If he can hit takedowns consistently, maybe – but he can’t live with him standing. As for Gilbert, I can’t see him hearing the final bell. But I hope we see Khamzat pushed at least.”
That’s why we fight folks. I appreciate the respectful honesty, but I’m winning this fight or we’re both taking a trip to the hospital.
Jacksonville fans will get a great show of high level MMA! Now excuse me, I have 2 more pounds to lose 💪🏾1 more sleep! #UFC273 https://t.co/3zee0GBI3o

Aljamain Sterling has a lot of changes to make if he were to retain his bantamweight belt
‘Funkmaster’ is without a doubt one of the best bantamweights in the world right now. He is only two wins away from matching the all-time record in the UFC for bantamweight wins.
That being said, Sterling was losing the fight against Petr Yan at UFC 259. Although he started off well, Sterling picked up the pace and utilized his boxing skills to pick ‘Funkmaster’ apart. Going into the rematch, Sterling has without a doubt picked up on things that he can improve on in order to have a better outcome. However he has also been inactive for a year where as Petr Yan has competed once since their first fight. It will be interesting to see how the rematch plays out.
