Deni Avdija is an Israeli-Serbian professional basketball player who now plays for the NBA’s Washington Wizards. He is a small forward who plays the position of small forward. He is the son of basketball player Zufer Avdija. As a young player, he was a standout. At the age of 16, he made his senior squad debut in 2017, becoming the club’s youngest player ever. Deni was born on 3 January 2001 in Beit Zera, Israel to parents Zufer Avdija and Sharon Artzi. Zufer, a Serbian-Israeli citizen of Gorani-Muslim ancestry, was born in Pristina, Yugoslavia (now Kosovo).
Zufer was a professional basketball player in Yugoslavia and Israel, spending 11 years with Crvena Zvezda and serving as their captain in the 1980s, before moving to the Israeli Premier League in the 1990s and playing for Israeli clubs Ramat HaSharon, Rishon LeZion, Hapoel Tel Aviv, and Elitzur Bat Yam. He also competed for the Yugoslav national team, winning a bronze medal in the 1982 FIBA World Championship with them.
