“His Best Days Are Long Gone”- Michael Bisping and Joe Rogan Assess Conor McGregor’s Chances of Becoming a Champion Once Again Posted on March 5, 2022March 5, 2022 by Jim Smarts Conor McGregor has been out of action for the better part of a year now. ‘The Notorious’ suffered a gruesome injury when he faced Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. In recent interviews, McGregor stated that he is almost completely healed up and will be ready to return to UFC action towards the second half of this year. Given McGregor is the biggest draw in the UFC by far, the options available for him on his return are endless. On the recent episode of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, Michael Bisping and Joe Rogan shared their thoughts on Conor McGregor’s comeback and who he might potentially face. Bisping said, “The reality is, Conor’s best days are long gone. They are behind him, you can not stay at the top forever.” Rogan responded, “Listen we gotta look at it this way, “He takes a long time off, the cowboy fight is very quick, we do not really get to see what is going on. And then, Dustin fucks him up, and Dustin fucked him up with calf kicks. His leg was destroyed. That is one of the best examples of calf kicks winning the fight…. Then comes into the second fight with a hairline fracture already on his shin and then fights and his leg snaps… it’s very unsatisfying.” Who can Conor McGregor potentially face on his UFC return? Conor McGregor stated that he is targeting a return in July this year. He also stated that he would be fighting for the lightweight belt. Now McGregor has not won a fight at lightweight in six years now. However, ‘The Notorious’ is the undisputed top attraction in the sport and it would not surprise many if he is given the title shot right away. The lightweight title will be on the line when Justin Gaethje takes on Charles Oliveira later this year. McGregor will have a close eye on the fight as he might potentially face the winner if he is given a title shot right away.
