“I’d Be Shocked if That Fight Didn’t Happen Again”- Dana White on Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz Trilogy Posted on March 2, 2022 by Jim Smarts Conor McGregor is undoubtedly the biggest star in the UFC. ‘The Notorious’ last fought in the UFC in July 2021 when he suffered a devastating loss against Dustin Poirier and in the process, losing the trilogy against ‘The Diamond’. Since then, McGregor has been on the sidelines nursing his injury and chomping at the bits to make a swift return to the promotion. Given McGregor’s status as the undisputed top attraction in the sport, he has the power to choose his next opponent, a luxury that not many have in the UFC. In a recent interview, Dana White shared his thoughts on a potential third right between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz. He said, “Uh you know, we’re still working on that fight. That fight is not done yet. But yeah, I would not count out Conor and Nate 3.” White continued, “Listen, I’d be shocked if that fight did not happen again. You know he (McGregor) is chomping at the bits to come back realistically when you look at everything he’s got going on right now, with coming back and other things that need to be done to get ready to come back to prepare again. It is probably going to be early fall.” Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz the fight to make on McGregor’s return? Nate Diaz is on the last fight of his UFC contract at the moment. The Stockton native does not seem to have any interest in extending it as he has stated multiple times that he is done with the fight game. Diaz has also stated interest in facing Dustin Poirier, who has been reciprocal in the interest of getting a fight done. However, for reasons unknown, the fight has not been signed as of today. Conor McGregor will be ready to return to action in a few months from now. By that time, if a fight between Diaz and Poirier is not finalized, the UFC might be inclined to book McGregor against Diaz given it would be a much bigger fight. It will be interesting to see what happens meanwhile.
