After the Spurs gave up an average of 126 points per game over their last three contests, there were signs early of a better defense. The Clippers’ 27 points in the first quarter was the first time in the last three games the Spurs didn’t give up at least 37 in the opening 12 minutes.
San Antonio led 35-27 after one quarter, even as the Clippers shot 55 percent from the field, then held Los Angeles to 27.6 percent shooting in the second quarter to take a 62-48 halftime lead. Murray had 17 points in the first half for the Spurs.
