Report: Lakers’ Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to have MRI
Los Angeles Lakers starting shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is scheduled for an MRI on his bruised left quad, ESPN reported Friday.
Caldwell-Pope exited in the third quarter of the Lakers’ 109-95 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Thursday in Game 3 of their Western Conference first-round series. Caldwell-Pope was injured after running into Suns guard Devin Booker.
Seventh-seeded Los Angeles holds a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. Game 4 is on Sunday afternoon.
“I’m doing well. Just sore, but I’m doing well,” Caldwell-Pope said after Thursday’s game. “I’ve got two days for rest and recovery, and I hope I’m ready to go Sunday.”
Caldwell-Pope, 28, is averaging 4.0 points in the three playoff games. He averaged 9.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 67 games (all starts) this season.
Caldwell-Pope has averaged 11.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 606 career games (464 starts) with the Detroit Pistons and Lakers. He was selected by Detroit with the eighth overall pick of the 2013 NBA Draft.
