Major League Baseball is undoubtedly the most popular baseball league in the world, where some of the best players have showcased their talent over the years and have made the fans fall for their pitches and home runs. Since the inception of the game, there have been innumerable numbers of players who have graced the game. While some have become the greats of the game, others have not been so lucky. However, with all its odds, the fans of Major League Baseball were introduced to the 20,000th player in the history of the league, which is an incredible feat for the player, the league and its followers.
Jose Godoy, who is currently playing for the Seattle Mariners in MLB, went onto make history as he became the 20,000th player in the history of Major League Baseball. The not-so-popular player has now taken the headlines by achieving this incredible feat and his team, i.e, The Mariners, have also joined the bandwagon in celebrating the achievement along with their fans. They tweeted a video soon after Godoy created history as he entered the pitch as the 20,000th player to have played the game.

The video posted by the Mariners spoke about their player Jose Godoy reaching the incredible feat with the caption, “Who is José Godoy?” Well, as we can reckon, after this wonderful feat achieved by the player that helped him induct his name in the history of Major League Baseball forever, the fans of his team, as well as the rival ones, will not forget his name easily. For the game as well, this is a huge landmark since its inception in 1871. Having 20,000 players representing their teams in both the American League and the National League is nothing less than awe-inspiring and will be something that the fans of this game will cherish forever.
Now speaking of a few fun facts about the game, the list of big leaguers began in 1871 and ranges from A to Z. However, there has never been a single player whose last name started with the alphabet X, although there have been several with first names that start that way, including Red Sox star Xander Bogaerts. First on the alphabetical chart is pitcher David Aardsma, who moved into the top spot ahead of Hank Aaron when he started out in 2004 for San Francisco. Aardsma’s last season was 2015 — that was the same year the player last on the list, pitcher Tony Zych, made his debut with the Mariners.
Out of the 20,000 players who have graced the game, 266 players have been inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame. Walter Alston played two innings in his only game in 1936 for the Cardinals, striking out in his lone at-bat and making an error at first base — and later reached Cooperstown as the longtime manager of the Dodgers. With Mariners’ Jose Godoy adding another unforgettable chapter in the history of Major League Baseball, we will be looking forward to seeing more history creators making the game more interesting and entertaining in the coming years.
