Syracuse F Alan Griffin declares for NBA draft

Syracuse forward Alan Griffin announced Monday that he would leave school and declare for the NBA draft.

Griffin posted a video on his Instagram and Twitter accounts to share the news.

“I believe it’s time to start the next chapter in my journey by entering my name in the 2021 NBA draft,” Griffin said.

Griffin averaged 13.3 points and 5.8 rebounds for the Orange last season. He spent his first two seasons at Illinois before transferring to Syracuse.

The video announcement included a scene in which Griffin called his father, Adrian, to let him know about his intention to declare for the draft. Adrian Griffin played collegiately at Seton Hall and spent nine seasons in the NBA despite going undrafted.

“Number one, I’m super proud of you,” Adrian Griffin said. “Everyone is super proud of you. It’s been a great pleasure just watching you grow.”
