3 Reasons Why the Los Angeles Chargers can win Super Bowl 57

The Los Angeles Chargers had to through some tough years to reach where they are now, but they are one of the finest teams in the league going into the 2022 NFL season.

The club was largely organically constructed through the draft, with the majority of their offensive starters maturing within the squad and establishing rapport with one another. The Chargers had one of the more active offseasons after realizing they needed the depth to sustain a genuine playoff run.

The AFC West contenders strengthened their defense by adding some of the league’s top players to various layers of their unit, positioning them for an exciting season.

1) Exceptional Offense

The Chargers were hopeful Justin Herbert would develop into a franchise quarterback who could guide their attack for many years when they selected him sixth overall in the 2020 NFL Draft. Despite having only two years of experience, the former Oregon Duck has lived up to the expectations.

Herbert has passed for 9,350 yards, 69 touchdowns, 25 interceptions, and a 66.2% completion rate since joining the NFL.

Of course, a portion of his success may be attributed to the outstanding offensive components that were present in Los Angeles when the young pivot moved there. Mike Williams and Keenan Allen have served as Herbert’s security blankets and prospered in 2021. The wide receiver pair provided the squad with an efficient 2,284 yards and 15 touchdowns combined.

2) Off-Season Move

The team’s performance on defense was just as poor as their offense. In terms of overall defense last season, the Chargers were in the bottom 10 and gave up the third-most points. The Chargers bought some of the top players from other teams after realizing how ineffective it was for them to develop defensive players within the club.

Khalil Mack, a previous defensive player of the year, was acquired by Los Angeles in a trade. Mack acts as a two-man wrecking unit through the second layer of defense, stabilizing the front seven and lining up opposite Joey Bosa.

In addition, the Chargers completely redesigned their defensive line, adding Super Bowl champion Sebastian Joseph Day, former second-round pick Austin Johnson, and undrafted star Morgan Fox.

The Chargers added Bryce Callahan and Pro Bowl cornerback J.C. Jackson to their secondary to improve their pass defense since there was still work to be done there.

3) Joey Bosa With Khalil Mack

Joey Bosa, who will play in his seventh NFL season, is an important member of the Los Angeles Chargers defense. With Khalil Mack, a nine-year club veteran, on the roster, he also has a new reason to perform well.

“Having a guy like that to inspire me, always being the first one to the drill, I’m like, ‘Ok, I guess I better keep up with him,'” Bosa addressed the media following practice on Sunday. He is undoubtedly the man, though.

Mack was traded from the Chicago Bears to the Bolts this summer. Following foot surgery, the six-time Pro Bowler’s season was cut short the previous year. Bosa stated that although his teammate is still recovering from the injury, it is improving steadily.
