He played 15 seasons in the NBA, winning six NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls. He holds so many basketball records in the NBA which are still hard to break. Apart from the NBA, he has won two Olympic Gold medals with the USA Basketball team. His biography on the official NBA website states: “By acclamation, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time.”

LeBron James is a professional basketball player who plies his trade for LA Lakers. He has previously played for Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat. He is a four-time NBA Champion, twice with Miami Heat, once with Cleveland, and once with his current team Lakers. Apart from the NBA titles, he is a four-time NBA regular season MVP and four-time NBA Finals MVP. With his performances over the decade, he has established himself as one of the best basketball players of all time. He now regularly gets the ‘GOAT of basketball’ shouts on social media, news, etc, and gets compared to Michael Jordan. Here we bring you three reasons why Michael Jordan was better than LeBron James.

Michael Jordan was a better scorer than LeBron James.

Ever heard of scoring leaders? The NBA scoring title is awarded to the player with the highest points per game average in a given season. Michael Jordan has 10 scoring titles to his name in his 15-year-old professional basketball career. As compared to that, LeBron has just one scoring title to his name and that came long back in 2007 when he used to play for Cleveland Cavaliers.

When it comes to play-off stats, Jordan has averaged 40 points per game in five playoff series, an NBA record. LeBron has never averaged 40 points per game in a playoff series.

Michael Jordan was a far better defender than LeBron James.

Michael Jordan has been a good defender during his playing career. He featured nine times in the All NBA Defense first team. That’s nine seasons from the 15 seasons he played during his professional career. While LeBron is still playing but he has featured just five times in the All NBA Defense first team. In fact, Jordan was great defensively in all of the six NBA Finals he played.

Michael Jordan has three Steals titles to his name as well. LeBron has never won the steals title in his career.

Jordan was a better shooter than LeBron

Michael Jordan has shot over 50% in three NBA Finals in his career, while LeBron has achieved this feat twice, while still playing. This is a close comparison as LeBron can still equal this feat. But when we compare on shooting less than 40%, Jordan never shot below 40% in the NBA finals, while LeBron has shot below 40% twice. So, Jordan was a bit more reliable when it came to shooting.
