Prospect for the 2023 NBA Draft Keisei Tominaga is prepared to take his shot at being the third Japanese player to play in the NBA after Yuta Watanabe and Rui Hachimura.
Tominaga, who is known as the “Japanese Stephen Curry” for his 3-point shooting, was recently worked out by the Indiana Pacers in preparation for the next season and the NBA Draft.
2023 NBA Draft Prospect Keisei Tominaga Scouting Report
Tominaga highlighted his aim to become the next Japanese player in the league and his hope that he could live up to his forebears in a statement to the Pacers media channel. “I watched them play; hopefully, I can be as successful as they are.” He also mentioned that Curry served as his game’s inspiration.

Tominaga may join the league tomorrow and quickly establish himself as one of the league’s top 3-point shooters. He was given the opportunity to ring a bell during his practice with the Pacers as part of a custom they have for players who make at least 20 out of 25 3-point attempts.

Even during the season, Tominaga attempted a lookaway 3-pointer, turning his head away as he released the ball, much like Curry is known to do.
As a junior, Keisei Tominaga became one of the Big Ten Conference’s leading scoring guards. The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 13.1 points per game in 32 games, including 14 starts, earning honorable-mention All-Big Ten recognition. He hit a team-high 66 3-pointers and shot 50% from the field, including 40% from 3-point range, to rank seventh in the Big Ten for 3-pointers made per game.

He also led NU in free throw percentage, making 46 of 53 attempts, including 23 of his first-year free throws. In 2022–23, Tominaga was one of only six Division I players to average double digits while shooting 50% from the field, 40% from 3-point range, and 85% from the charity stripe.
The Japan Times reports. The 22-year-old native of Aichi Prefecture has previously played for Japan’s senior 5×5 squad, and he could do so again in this summer’s FIBA World Cup, when spots in the Paris Olympics are on the line.
