2022 MLB Playoffs: Schedule, Bracket & Format
The MLB Playoffs will start on Friday. The new collective bargaining agreement, which saw the owners and players agree to an additional “Wild Card Series,” led to the postseason bracket featuring 12 teams for the first time in league history. The better team in the aforementioned series will host a best-of-three series. While the top two seeds in each league get byes.
After teams win the Wild Card Series, the postseason will proceed as usual, with a best-of-five Division Series followed by a best-of-seven League Championship Series and a best-of-seven World Series.

What And How Different Is The New MLB Playoffs Format?
Each league consists of six clubs. The Division Series begins with byes for the top two teams in each league. The third seed welcomes the sixth seed, while the fourth seed welcomes the fifth seed in the Wild Card round. Each game in a best-of-three series is played at home against the higher seed.

As a result, even if, for instance, the sixth seed defeats the third seed, the top seed would still face the victor of the No. 4 vs No. 5 encounter in the playoffs because the seeds are fixed.
On ESPN, ESPN2, or ABC, the Disney family of networks will air all of the Wild Card round games.
