Cade Cunningham Expected To Have Season-Ending Surgery
Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham (shin) plans to have season-ending surgery, but is expected to be ready for the beginning of training camp. This is the worst case scenario, but not exactly surprising with the Pistons being non-competitive this season. They aren't going to risk the health of their young star guard in a lost season. Killian Hayes figures to remain in the starting unit the rest of the way. That being said, he should be rostered in all fantasy formats, so fantasy managers should check to see if he's available. Cunningham can safely be dropped in all re-draft formats.

Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham (shin) is out indefinitely. The 21-year-old has played well this season, averaging 19.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 6.0 assists. However, there's a concern that a stress fracture may be the issue with his left shin, so he'll remain out while considering his options. Until he's cleared to return, Killian Hayes is the favorite to continue filling the void in the lineup. Hayes has averaged 11.0 points, 4.8 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.0 blocks in four starts this season and could be a viable replacement for the foreseeable future in all fantasy setups. Alec Burks, who had 23 points on Friday against the Los Angeles Lakers, may also see more minutes moving ahead.

His amount of missed time is also most likely due to the Pistons being extra cautious on top of it all. During a season where they're not going to compete for a championship, they're not going to risk the health of their centerpiece. Corey Joseph started only one of the games while Cunningham has been out, while Killian Hayes has taken over since then. Hamidou Diallo has also gotten some extra time but Hayes seems to be the better streaming option until Cunningham returns.
