Magic's Chuma Okeke (knee) out at least another month
It will be at least another month before the Orlando Magic will have forward Chuma Okeke on the court. Okeke underwent a chondroplasty on his left knee, a surgical procedure that repairs cartilage in a joint, the Magic announced Tuesday. His status will be re-evaluated in four weeks. Okeke, 24, had missed the last 14 games after leaving the Magic's contest against the Indiana Pacers on Nov. 20 with soreness in his left knee. The former Auburn star's knee woes date back to the Sweet 16 round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament, when Okeke tore the ACL in his left knee during Auburn's 97-80 victory over North Carolina. Okeke missed the entire 2019-20 NBA season due to the injury. Just five games into the 2020-21 season, Okeke sustained a bone bruise on his left knee and missed 16 games. In 18 games (seven starts) this season, Okeke is averaging 5.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 36.8 percent from the floor. In 133 career games (46 starts), he's averaged 7.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. --Field Level Media
