Michael Harris II Wins NL Rookie Of The Year Award
Atlanta Braves outfielder Michael Harris II won the 2022 Jackie Robinson National League Rookie of the Year award on Monday. Harris won the award over teammate Spencer Strider and Cardinals infielder Brendan Donovan. The 21-year-old becomes the ninth player in Atlanta history to win the award and the first since Ronald Acuna Jr. won it in 2018. He opened the 2022 season as the club's top prospect and didn't make his MLB debut until May 28. Harris led all NL rookies with a 5.3 bWAR and finished his first season with 19 home runs and 20 stolen bases. Not only was he good with the bat, but Harris also finished tied for fourth among all center fielders with eight defensive runs saved despite missing the first two months. The former third-rounder in 2019 played in only one full season for High-A Rome before debuting in the big leagues in 2022.
