Cal Raleigh Has Been Playing Through Injury

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh (thumb) has been battling through an injury down the stretch of the season. The 25-year-old revealed that he has been playing through broken left thumb and torn ligament in his left hand for over a month. The Mariners were eliminated on Saturday, so Raleigh will have the entire offseason to recover from this injury. He slashed .211/.284/.489 with 27 home runs and 63 RBI in 415 plate appearances this season. Raleigh looks like he's going to be the catcher for the Mariners for the foreseeable future.

    Cal Raleigh Aggravates Thumb Injury

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh (thumb) aggravated a thumb injury during Sunday's contest against the Kansas City Royals. He initially injured his thumb while catching and was removed in the bottom of the sixth inning. The 25-year-old was dealing with a thumb issue and missed a few games earlier in the week. According to manager Scott Servais, Raleigh was removed from the game when the injured thumb took a hit catching. Strength tests on the field were "okay." Raleigh is considered day-to-day with his next chance to return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Texas Rangers.

    Cal Raleigh Returns Against A's

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh (thumb) is back behind the dish and is hitting sixth on Wednesday against the Oakland Athletics and right-hander James Kaprielian. Raleigh has been missing in action of late due to a thumb injury, but he's back in there for the M's on Wednesday. The 25-year-old has plenty of pop (23 home runs), but he also only has a .204 batting average (69-for-338) on the season, adding 54 RBI, 41 runs scored and a stolen base in 109 games in his second big-league season with the Mariners. Fantasy managers are hoping Raleigh can be more consistent to close things out. He's hitting .231 (9-for-39) with four home runs, nine RBI and seven runs scored in 12 games so far in September.

Cal Raleigh's Thumb Still Bothering Him

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh's left thumb is still bothering him on defense and on offense, and he's available only in an emergency on Monday against the Los Angeles Angels. Raleigh will miss his second straight game on Monday and should be considered day-to-day for now. In his second major-league season for Seattle, Raleigh is hitting just .204 with a .278 on-base percentage, but he's hit 23 home runs and driven in 54 runs in 378 plate appearances over 109 games played. Curt Casali will be behind the plate again on Monday and will bat ninth in the batting order against Angels left-hander Jose Suarez. Casali is a weak DFS play at the position, as he's hitting just .211 (28-for-133) on the season with four home runs and 16 RBI.

Cal Raleigh Returns To The Lineup

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh (thumb) is back in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. The switch-hitting catcher missed their last contest after jamming his thumb. He's slashing .204/.277/.471 with 23 home runs and 54 RBI in 107 games. His 23 homers leads all catchers, so at least he's got that going for him. Fantasy managers should make sure to get Raleigh back in their lineup for Saturday.
