Astros Sign Austin Davis To Minor-League Deal
The Houston Astros signed left-hander Austin Davis to a minor-league deal on Wednesday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training. Davis was designated for assignment by the Minnesota Twins in September and elected free agency, and now he'll join the Astros before the 2023 season. The 29-year-old southpaw spent most of the 2022 campaign with the Boston Red Sox, posting a 5.47 ERA (3.94 FIP), a 1.56 WHIP, 61 strikeouts and 29 walks in 54 1/3 innings over 50 appearances (three starts). Davis will serve as left-handed relief depth for the World Series championship heading into the 2023 regular season.
