  Hunter Greene To Return On Saturday

  Cincinnati Reds rookie right-hander Hunter Greene (shoulder) is lined up to return from the injured list to start one of the games of a doubleheader on Saturday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Greene landed on the 15-day injured list in early August with a right shoulder strain, but he made three minor league rehab starts for Triple-A Louisville and looked good, allowing two earned runs on six hits while walking two and striking out 15 in seven innings pitched. The 23-year-old built up to 66 pitches in his final rehab outing, although Cincy is unlikely to push him too much to close out the 2022 regular season. Greene has lots of strikeout upside, but he's gone 4-12 with a 5.26 ERA (4.96 FIP), a 1.29 WHIP and 127 strikeouts in 102 2/3 innings in 20 starts in his first big-league season this year.

  Hunter Greene To Start For Reds This Week

  Cincinnati Reds rookie right-hander Hunter Greene (shoulder) said that his next start will be with the Reds this week after all went well on his minor league rehab assignment. It's likely that Greene will return from the 15-day injured list to start this weekend against the St. Louis Cardinals, which wouldn't be the greatest matchup for fantasy managers. The 23-year-old threw 66 pitches in his third and final rehab start at Triple-A Louisville on Sunday, giving up a run on four hits while striking out five and walking one. Expect the Reds to have a short leash on him in his return this week. Greene has plenty of long-term strikeout upside (127 K's in 102 2/3 innings), but he's also posted a 5.26 ERA (4.96 FIP) to go along with a 1.29 WHIP in his first 20 major league starts.

  Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Hunter Greene (shoulder) fired three innings of one-run ball with five strikeouts for Triple-A Louisville on Sunday. The 23-year-old hurler threw 66 pitches during the outing. Greene has been out since early August with a right shoulder strain but has been working his way back in good order. He's on track to return to Cincinnati next week, barring any last-minute setbacks.

  Hunter Greene To Make Another Rehab Start Sunday

  Cincinnati Reds rookie right-hander Hunter Greene (shoulder) will make another minor league rehab start on Sunday at Triple-A Louisville. After that, barring any setbacks, Greene is expected to rejoin the Reds' starting rotation to close out the 2022 season. The 23-year-old rookie has allowed one run on two hits while walking one and striking out 10 in his two outings for Louisville so far, so he certainly looks about ready to return to the big leagues. Greene won't be able to rack up that many strikeouts the rest of the way for fantasy managers, but he'll be a highly coveted strikeout arm in fantasy drafts going into his second big league season. In his first 20 MLB starts, he has a 5.26 ERA (4.95 FIP), a 1.29 WHIP, 127 K's and 41 walks in 102 2/3 innings pitched.

  Hunter Greene Making Another Rehab Start Tuesday

  Cincinnati Reds rookie right-hander Hunter Greene (shoulder) is making another minor league rehab start on Tuesday for Triple-A Louisville. Greene threw scoreless innings in his first rehab outing last Thursday and he recovered well enough to make another start early this week. Look for the 23-year-old to build his pitch count up even more after he threw 27 pitches last week. He's expected to be able to return before the end of the 2022 season, but the Reds won't rush him back. Greene will continue to be very popular in fantasy drafts next year because of his strikeout upside, but he has struggled a bit to the tune of a 5.26 ERA (4.95 FIP) and a 1.29 WHIP in 20 starts while striking out 127 and walking 41 in 102 2/3 innings in his first MLB season.

  Hunter Greene On Track To Face Hitters Saturday

  Cincinnati Reds rookie right-hander Hunter Greene (shoulder) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session on Sunday and is scheduled to throw another bullpen on Wednesday. Barring a setback, he's tentatively scheduled to face hitters in a live batting practice session on Saturday. "Felt good, my pitches felt good," Greene said. "Most importantly, my body felt good. It was just a good step forward." Manager David Bell said Greene will need one to three minor league rehab starts before he rejoins the Reds rotation. The 23-year-old could make as many as three more big-league starts in 2022. He was pitching well before his injury, posting a 2.70 ERA with 29 strikeouts in 23 1/3 innings in his previous four starts. In 20 starts in his rookie year, Greene is 4-12 with a 5.26 ERA, but he's shown flashes of dominance.
