    Reds Hope Nick Senzel Will Be Ready For Spring Training

    Cincinnati Reds outfielder Nick Senzel (toe) had surgery for a broken bone in his toe last month and continues to use a scooter to get around. However, the Reds are hopeful that Senzel will be ready for the start of spring training next year. Despite his struggles early in his career, he remains the top internal choice to start in center field in 2023, although the Reds have inquired on some free-agent center fielders. "He's done a great job of taking care of himself," manager David Bell said of Senzel. "He looks really good. I mean, it's tough for anyone to manage their weight and their physical conditioning when you can't run or do anything, so I give him a lot of credit." Jake Fraley and TJ Friedl will be left-handed hitting options to fill Cincy's outfield next year alongside right-handed hitters Stuart Fairchild and Nick Solak.

    Nick Senzel To Miss The Rest Of The Season

    Cincinnati Reds outfielder Nick Senzel (toe) said he broke his toe on Tuesday against the Boston Red Sox and will miss the rest of the 2022 season. Senzel crashed into the outfield wall on Tuesday while trying to make a catch. Although he played in a career-high 110 games this year in his fourth major-league season, Senzel was disappointing for fantasy managers, hitting .231/.296/.306 with only five home runs, 25 RBI, 45 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 420 plate appearances. The 27-year-old's rookie season in 2019 was still his best to this point, when he finished with 12 homers, 42 RBI, 14 stolen bases and a .256 batting average in 104 games.

    Nick Senzel Back In The Lineup

    Cincinnati Reds outfielder Nick Senzel (ankle) is back in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Chicago Cubs, serving as the designated hitter and batting seventh against right-hander Adrian Sampson. Senzel sprained his ankle in the game on Tuesday and didn't play on Wednesday, but he won't end up missing much time after all. The 27-year-old hasn't done much for fantasy managers this year, and he's even less appealing near the bottom of the Reds batting order. In his 331 at-bats in 2022, he's hitting .242/.306/.314 with four homers, 24 RBI, 41 runs scored and eight stolen bases. Since the beginning of August, he's slashing .216/.303/.296 with a homer, six RBI, seven runs scored and 16 strikeouts in 24 games played.

    Nick Senzel Still Out Wednesday

    Cincinnati Reds outfielder Nick Senzel (ankle) remains out of the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Chicago Cubs. Senzel will miss his second straight game after he was scratched from the lineup on Tuesday with a right ankle sprain. The 27-year-old should be considered day-to-day for now by fantasy managers. TJ Friedl will start in center field and bat leadoff on Wednesday against Cubs right-hander Javier Assad. The left-handed-hitting Friedl has gone 39-for-142 (.275) on the year with five homers, 19 RBI, 24 runs scored and six steals in 46 games. For his two-year big-league career, he's hit five of his six home runs against right-handers, and he'll be a low-cost DFS sleeper on Wednesday.

Senzel is listed as day-to-day and is missing his third straight game due to left hamstring tightness.
