    Jake Fraley In The Cleanup Spot Against Cardinals

    Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jake Fraley (head) is back in the starting lineup on Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals and right-hander Miles Mikolas, serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup. It's the first time that Fraley will return to the lineup since being drilled in the head by a pitch in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader. The 27-year-old was quickly able to pass through the league's concussion protocol and is in a great spot to produce some counting stats on Thursday. He's been much better against right-handed pitchers this year, too, hitting .263 (36-for-137) with nine of his 10 home runs and 20 RBI in 52 games. Fraley has just four hits in 26 at-bats against lefties.

    Jake Fraley Out Against Pirates

    Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jake Fraley (head) is out of the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Fraley was forced from the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday against the Pirates after he was hit in the helmet by a fastball from Manny Banuelos. The 27-year-old left-handed hitter didn't play in Game 2 and remains out on Wednesday, but the good news is he hasn't displayed any concussion symptoms. Consider Fraley to be day-to-day for now. With Fraley out again on Wednesday, TJ Friedl will get the start in left field and will bat leadoff against Pirates right-hander Roansy Contreras. Friedl, who also bats from the left side, has been better against lefties in a small sample size this year, but five of his six homers have come against right-handers.

    Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jake Fraley (head) left Game 1 of a doubleheader early on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates when he was hit in the head by a fastball from Manny Banuelos. Fraley was down on the ground for a bit before he was able to get up and walk off the field under his owner power. The 27-year-old left-handed hitter will likely be put through the league's concussion protocol and is unlikely to be in the starting lineup for Game 2. Fraley went 0-for-2 with a walk before leaving the game and was replaced by Stuart Fairchild. Coming into Tuesday's doubleheader, Fraley was hitting .248/.341/.484 with an .825 OPS, 10 home runs, 23 RBI, 30 runs scored and three stolen bases in 52 games for Cincy.
