Brewers Bring Back Lucas Erceg
The Milwaukee Brewers re-signed right-handed reliever Lucas Erceg to a minor league contract on Tuesday that includes an invite to major-league spring training next year. The 27-year-old former infielder is coming off his first full season as a pitcher. In two stops with Double-A Biloxi and Triple-A Nashville, Erceg had a 4.55 ERA, 1.65 WHIP, 69 strikeouts and 37 walks in 61 1/3 innings pitched over 49 outings (four starts) in the minors. It's still young in Erceg's pitching career, but he'll have a shot to open the 2023 regular season in Milwaukee's bullpen if he impresses in spring training. He had a 3.43 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 42 K's in 39 1/3 frames at Nashville.
