Mike Soroka Won't Have Restrictions Next Spring

As things currently stand, Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Mike Soroka (Achilles) will come to spring training next year without any restrictions. Soroka will be looking to prove that he can be effective after having surgery on his right Achilles tendon twice. The 25-year-old also dealt with right elbow soreness while pitching in the minor leagues and landed on the injured list at Triple-A Gwinnett in late September. In six starts with High-A Rome and Gwinnett this year, Soroka had a 5.40 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 25 strikeouts and seven walks in 25 innings pitched. He was an All-Star in his second big-league season in 2019, but he's made only three starts in the last two years due to Achilles injuries, which will keep his fantasy cost down entering 2023 drafts.

    Mike Soroka Won't Have Restrictions

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Mike Soroka (Achilles) won't have any restrictions heading into spring training, according to GM Alex Anthopoulos. This is great news for the right-hander who hasn't pitched in the MLB since 2020. Soroka has torn his Achilles tendon twice and suffered a season-ending elbow injury in late September. The 25-year-old was excellent when he first came into the MLB in 2019. The expectation is that the team will somewhat limit his workload considering he hasn't pitched in years.

Mike Soroka Lands On Injured List In Minors

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Mike Soroka (elbow) is being placed on the injured list in the minor leagues at Triple-A Gwinnett with right elbow soreness, according to a source. The good news is that there is no structural damage in his arm, but he'll now miss the rest of the season. The 25-year-old had yet to pitch in 2022 while recovering from a torn Achilles, but he was hoping to return later this month in a relief role for Atlanta. Soroka hasn't made a major-league start since 2020, but he was an All-Star in 2019 in just his second MLB campaign. In six starts for High-A Rome and Gwinnett on his rehab assignment, he allowed 15 earned runs on 21 hits (three homers) while walking seven and striking out 25 in 25 innings pitched.

Mike Soroka Has Rough Rehab Start Friday

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Mike Soroka (Achilles) had a minor league rehab start to forget on Friday night with Triple-A Gwinnett. In five innings of work, he allowed six earned runs on six hits (three homers surrendered) while walking one and striking out six batters. Soroka hasn't pitched at all this year in the majors, but he's now made six rehab appearances between Gwinnett and High-A Rome, posting a 5.40 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 25:7 K:BB in 25 innings pitched. The 25-year-old got beat up on Friday, but he's healthy and is expected to rejoin the Braves here soon to close out the regular season. Soroka hasn't pitched since 2020 for Atlanta, though, so if he does return, it's likely to be in a relief role.

Mike Soroka Tosses Four Scoreless Innings In Rehab Start

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Mike Soroka (Achilles) threw four scoreless innings for Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday night in his minor league rehab start, allowing just one hit while striking out five and walking none. Soroka is trying to return to the Braves starting rotation after tearing his right Achilles twice. The 25-year-old is a must-roster player in all fantasy leagues when healthy, but the problem is there isn't much time left in the regular season for him to make an impact for fantasy managers in 2022. Soroka hasn't pitched in a big-league game since the shortened 2020 campaign, but he was an All-Star in 2019 when he had a 2.68 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 142 strikeouts and 41 walks in 174 2/3 innings over 29 starts. There's a chance the Braves use him in relief initially when he's ready to return to the major league roster.

Mike Soroka Set For Rehab Start Saturday

Atlanta Braves pitcher Mike Soroka (Achilles) will make his next rehab start Saturday with Triple-A Gwinnett. He threw 58 pitches in his previous rehab appearance with Triple-A Gwinnett. The 25-year-old hasn't pitched in the majors since 2020. He went 13-4 with a 2.68 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and a 142:41 K: BB in 174 2/3 innings over 29 starts in 2019. Soroka will make one more rehab start on Saturday and is on target to be activated from the injured list in early September. Fantasy managers should continue to stash the Braves right-hander in all league formats.
