Brendan Rodgers To Make $2.7 Million In 2023
The Colorado Rockies and second baseman Brendan Rodgers avoided salary arbitration on Friday by agreeing to a one-year, $2.7 million deal. In his fourth year in the big leagues with the Rockies in 2022, Rodgers slashed .266/.325/.408 with a .733 OPS, 13 home runs, 63 RBI and 72 runs scored in 581 plate appearances and a career-high 137 games. He hasn't been much to look at from a fantasy perspective with only 28 home runs, 123 RBI and no stolen bases in four seasons at Coors Field, but offers the Rockies great defense at the keystone and could develop more power along the way. Rodgers remains a decent selection as a middle infielder in deep mixed leagues in 2023.

Colorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers (hamstring) remains out of the starting lineup on Thursday against the San Francisco Giants. Rodgers is dealing with a hamstring injury and was last in the lineup on Sunday. There's a chance he'll be back in the lineup this weekend against the San Diego Padres, though, since his MRI results were encouraging. With Rodgers out another game, Ryan McMahon will get another start at second base and bat leadoff against Giants right-hander John Brebbia on Thursday. McMahon has some DFS sleeper appeal once again despite going 0-for-4 in the loss to the Giants on Wednesday. The 27-year-old has 17 home runs and 63 RBI in 487 at-bats on the season.

Colorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers (hamstring) remains out of the starting lineup on Wednesday against the San Francisco Giants. Rodgers remains day-to-day after a recent MRI exam ruled out significant damage, but he'll miss his third straight game for the Rockies. Garrett Hampson is getting the nod at second base in this one and will bat eighth in the lineup against Giants right-hander Logan Webb. There's very little DFS upside with Hampson. He's batting .214 (3-for-14) with an RBI, run scored and six strikeouts in 12 games in September, and he's also slashing just .214/.294/.316 with two long balls, 14 RBI, 28 runs scored and 11 stolen bases in 187 at-bats in 2022.

Colorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers (hamstring) will get an MRI exam on his left hamstring on Monday night and won't be in the starting lineup against the San Francisco Giants. Rodgers' injury doesn't feel as bad as the one he dealt with last year, but the Rockies don't know the extent of it yet. He'll be out at least a few days and possibly longer, so fantasy managers need to act accordingly this week. The 26-year-old is slashing .261/.319/.396 with 11 home runs, 61 RBI and 68 runs scored this year in 502 at-bats for the Rockies. Ryan McMahon is at the keystone and is batting leadoff on Monday against Giants right-hander Jakob Junis. McMahon will be a popular DFS selection out of the leadoff spot. He has 17 home runs on the season, with 14 of them coming against right-handed pitching.

Rodgers didn't play on Thursday after undergoing a root canal earlier in the day, but he'll return to the lineup on Friday. The 26-year-old finished up the month of August hitting .271 (29-for-107) with two home runs, 11 RBI and 13 runs scored in 27 games played. Colorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers (mouth) is not in the starting lineup against the Atlanta Braves on Thursday after undergoing a root canal in the morning. Manager Bud Black said he'll try to avoid using Rodgers off the bench on Thursday, but he intends to return him to the starting lineup on Friday. Rodgers said he will hit in the batting cages in case he's needed Thursday. With Rodgers on the bench, Ryan McMahon will get the nod at the keystone and hit leadoff against Braves right-hander Spencer Strider. Ten of McMahon's 13 home runs this season have come against right-handed hurlers, and he'll be more attractive in the leadoff spot in DFS, but Strider has been excellent for Atlanta this year. In his 301 at-bats against righties in 2022, McMahon has 77 hits (18 doubles), 41 RBI, 31 runs scored and six steals.
