  • Andres Gimenez Earns Gold Glove Award Tuesday

Cleveland Guardians second baseman Andres Gimenez earned his first career Gold Glove Award Tuesday, one of four Guardians players to be recognized. The 24-year-old also contributed offensively in 2022, slashing .297/.371/.466 with 17 home runs, 69 RBI, and 20 stolen bases. His power potential is limited compared to other options at second base, but he will offer a nice overall floor and an upside in steals for fantasy managers in 2023 if he can reproduce his performance.

  • Andres Gimenez Won't Need Surgery For Thumb Fracture

Cleveland Guardians second baseman Andres Gimenez (thumb) was dealing with a non-displaced fracture in his left thumb over the last month of the season, but he won't need surgery and is expected to fully heal in a couple of weeks. Gimenez was hit by 25 pitches this year, which was the most in the American League. It helps explain why he went just 5-for-28 (.179) with no homers, one RBI and 14 strikeouts in seven postseason games after he slashed a strong .297/.371/.466 with an .837 OPS, 17 home runs, 69 RBI, 66 runs scored and 20 stolen bases in 491 regular season at-bats for the Guardians. The 24-year-old Venezuelan infielder should be ready to go for the 2023 season and will be a highly coveted fantasy commodity.

  • Andres Gimenez Out Again Tuesday

Cleveland Guardians infielder Andres Gimenez is out of the starting lineup for the second straight day on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays and right-hander Corey Kluber. It remains to be seen if Gimenez is actually dealing with an injury, but fantasy managers will have to keep him on the bench again. The 24-year-old first-time All-Star has been great in the month of September, going 27-for-84 (.321) with two home runs, eight RBI, 15 runs scored and four stolen bases in 24 games played. With Gimenez starting on the bench, rookie Gabriel Arias will start at second base and bat seventh against Kluber. This will be Arias' eighth major-league game, and he's gone 3-for-23 (.130) so far with no homers, a triple, three RBI and eight strikeouts so far.
